The RWTH Aachen University offers the course “Principles and Practices of Global Innovation” to the iPodia Alliance. The course comprehends a practically oriented case study with a combination of lecture and self-organized intercultural group assignments. It will be carried out under the lead of Prof. Schuh, head of the chair for Production Engineering at the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering at RWTH Aachen University. The resources for the course are sponsored by the Hans Hermann Voss-Stiftung. iPodia is a new pedagogy which promotes peer-to-peer interactions among participating learners across disciplinary, institutional, physical and cultural boundaries.

Essentials of the course are:

· Market analysis on product requirements in different countries
· Consequences of product requirements on the global innovation process
· Introduction to Variety Management, Innovation Management and new product development processes for technological products, such as Scrum
· Cross-cultural exercise and working in multicultural teams of 3 different countries
· Possibility of meeting iPodia students

Students from the master programs of Production Engineering (Masterstudium Produktionstechnik) and Industrial Engineering (Masterstudium Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen Maschinenbau/ Produktionstechnik) can apply for the course of 5 CT.

The time frame is scheduled from approx. October until December 2018 with an oral examination in December.

Admission requires to sign up in Campus and a Letter of Motivation:
The admission will prioritize curricular relevance over waiting times and semester count.

All applicants, please send a brief letter of motivation (4-5 paragraphs) to both contacts below and address your personal motivation to participate in the iPodia class; additionally, please reflect on the contents and the respective workload you expect and on how your personal knowledge and experiences may serve this module's objectives.

Please make sure, you register for the Oral Examination simultaneously to registering for this Module in Campus Office. The Oral Examination is a required examination for this Class.

While we aim for heterogeneous groups, Master students will be prioritized over Bachelor students in most cases. If you are a bachelor student and wish to be put on a waiting list, please send us an email to the addresses stated below.
